Road Traffic Accidents

A serious traffic accident can change the lives of all those involved forever and can result in severe physical and psychological injuries as well as lifelong debilitations. Every district police authority has set up its own “Road Traffic Accident Prevention/Victim Protection” department so that victims can get help. Injured parties who need care and support after a road traffic accident will find suitable help here. 

Victims can be referred to expert medical, psychotherapeutic or social support services at short notice thanks to a joint cooperative effort between the North Rhine-Westphalia Police and Verkehrsunfall-Opferhilfe Deutschland e.V. (The Help Association for Victims of Road Traffic Accidents Germany). The victim will be able to speak with a contact person within 24 hours if he or she wants to.
