Child abuse
Child abuse begins when crying babies are shaken or children are harmed by punishment, slaps or deprivation of love.
This harm can be caused by psychological or physical acts (as in physical and emotional abuse) or by omissions (as in neglect).
Physical abuse includes all actions by parents or other persons that lead to physical injury or death of the child. Psychological abuse includes all behaviour that frightens, humiliates, degrades, terrorizes, isolates or overwhelms children or makes them feel worthless.
Child neglect is assumed to occur when children do not receive the necessary attention, protection and care to a sufficient extent, thereby damaging their development.
