Domestic violence perpetrator work

The term perpetrator work refers to work with male perpetrators who have committed domestic violence. The core objective of perpetrator work is to put a sustainable end to violent behavior in order to improve victim protection and violence prevention.

Domestic violence is a violation of a person's right to physical and mental integrity. This form of violence occurs in all social classes and is mainly directed against women; perpetrators are predominantly men.

The work with perpetrators contributes significantly to the protection of women affected by domestic violence. This means that work with perpetrators serves to protect victims in particular. It is also in the interests of the perpetrators of violence and in the interests of society.

Under the umbrella of the Bundesarbeitsgemeinschaft Täterarbeit Häusliche Gewalt (BAG-TäHG e.V.), a network of domestic violence perpetrator work facilities operates in Germany. The work of the facilities aims to prevent violence and thus provide targeted victim protection.

The members organized under the umbrella of the BAG-TäHG e.V. have committed themselves to the standards for perpetrator work on domestic violence and have implemented corresponding quality assurance measures. They publish evaluations and statistics on their work.
