Traffic accidents

A serious traffic accident can change the lives of those involved, causing serious physical and psychological injuries and lifelong restrictions. To help victims, each district police authority has set up its own "Traffic Accident Prevention/Victim Protection" department. This is where victims who require care or support after a road traffic accident can find the help they need.

Through a joint cooperation between the NRW police and Verkehrsunfall-Opferhilfe Deutschland e.V., victims can be referred to specialist medical, psychotherapeutic or social care measures at short notice. A contact person is available for victims within 24 hours if they so wish.

The association subvenio e.V. offers advice and concrete help (victim protection, victim support) for accident victims of all kinds throughout Germany if the victims have been injured through someone else's fault, e.g. in a traffic accident, recreational accident, dog attack/bite. Help is also provided in dealing with authorities and insurance companies, in the search for a suitable specialist lawyer, in the search for initial medical-psychological counselling in the event of psychological stress as a result of an accident with personal injury, as well as in arranging help from other organizations.
