Hate crime
Perpetrators of hate crime act out their personal prejudices with violence and criminal acts against other social groups. Behind the violent attacks is usually the perpetrator's insecurity, personal failure, lack of self-esteem or fear of new things or strangers. They compensate for their lack of tolerance by devaluing these social groups and carrying out violent attacks.
The attackers usually choose their victims at random from the "devalued" group. They are not interested in the specific person, but in sending a message of hate to the entire social group. The main aim of their actions is to terrify the members of the other group.
